Muscle Relaxant

Muscle relaxant injections soften the nerve signal telling specific facial muscles to contract, smoothing expression lines caused by repeated movement, such as the forehead, frown or crow’s feet, rather than by volume loss. That is different from dermal fillers, which restore volume rather than relax muscle movement.

Your practitioner places a small series of injections into the treated muscles. It feels like a quick scratch and takes 15 to 20 minutes, and we will ask you to avoid touching the area for a few hours afterwards.

Results are usually visible from day 3 to 4, with the full effect settling by day 14 and typically lasting 3 to 4 months before movement gradually returns. Beyond expression lines, we also treat jaw grinding and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) as separate, real uses for muscle relaxant.

Muscle relaxant injections are not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain neuromuscular conditions, or have an active infection at the injection site, and we will take a full history before recommending any treatment. Book a consultation and we will talk you through whether this, jaw grinding treatment or hyperhidrosis treatment is right for you.

Muscle relaxant treatments take place in a private room at each of our clinics. We keep sessions unhurried, talking you through your consultation and what to expect before we begin, and there is no expectation to commit to treatment until you understand what is involved.

Important Information

Prescribing & Safety Information

Muscle relaxant injections use a prescription-only medicine. By law, it can only be prescribed by a registered independent prescriber, a doctor, dentist, or nurse prescriber, following a thorough consultation and clinical assessment. Prescriptions for our muscle relaxant treatments are arranged through Faces, an MHRA-licensed prescribing platform (Faces Pharmacy Ltd). Your prescriber reviews your medical history over a consultation, in person or by live video call, and confirms suitability before any prescription is issued. Our clinic team then administers the treatment under that prescription, with the prescriber remaining responsible for your overall care.

No prescription is issued, and no treatment takes place, without this assessment. We cannot confirm suitability, price, or availability by phone, email, or online enquiry alone. A consultation is required first.

As with any prescription medicine, muscle relaxant injections carry possible side effects, including bruising, swelling, headache, or temporary asymmetry, and are not suitable for everyone. Your prescriber will discuss the relevant risks, contraindications, and alternatives with you individually before you decide whether to proceed.

Individual results vary. Nothing on this page is a guarantee of outcome, and treatment timelines and results described here reflect typical experience, not a promised result for any individual.

Treatment Information

The Team

Muscle relaxant injections are administered by our trained clinic team under the prescription of a registered independent prescriber, arranged through Faces, our prescribing partner. Every treatment is preceded by a consultation to confirm the prescription is appropriate for you, and every session is covered by our clinic’s treatment insurance.

Consultation

Every muscle relaxant treatment starts with a consultation, priced from £10, where we assess the area, talk through your medical history and confirm this is the right choice for what you want to achieve. If you go ahead with treatment on the day, the consultation fee is deducted from your first session.
